Start Here

I've been in affiliate marketing since 2008 (here's the series on how I made my first $1m ).
Forget wasting years of time & thousands of dollars - I wanna show you how I personally did it, and how I stay at the top of this industry year in, year out.
Enter your email & first name into the box below and I'll send you everything you need to get there (for free).
If you don't know what affiliate marketing is - this post explains it in more detail: What Is Affiliate Marketing? ?
Basically, affiliate marketing is the process of driving leads to an offer we don't own, and getting paid a percentage each time someone converts.
Disclosure: Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links. All commissions I earn will go towards supporting the costs of running and improving this website. Thank you!
Here's a basic overview of what you need to get started (if you didn't read the post giving you an Affiliate Marketing Overview ).
We refer to places that can send us people as traffic sources?. You sign up with a traffic source (like Facebook), make an account, make up your first online ad, and then click the button on their site to start the traffic flowing.
We refer to this as the offer?. We could go straight to someone who owns an offer, but affiliates use affiliate networks. This is because an affiliate network has a huge range of offers we can test (we test relentlessly to find the best offers).
We refer to this as our tracker?. Without this, we wouldn't know who was buying, so we wouldn't be able to make our campaigns better.
Often when you have an offer from an affiliate network, you will want to pre-sell? the visitor. We do this by creating a landing page in CSS/HTML. Once it's ready, we send traffic to it from our traffic source. Then we put the affiliate link on our landing page, so when someone clicks it, our tracker registers who has clicked.
You'll likely have questions like Which traffic source should I use?, or Which affiliate network should I use??
Your job as an affiliate is not to figure out what traffic sources work?, but what offers work best for a traffic source.
They all have different placements and audiences so you need to test offers to see which one responds best. This is the essence of how to learn affiliate marketing - you test a source, see what works well on it, and then scale.
I recommend these networks to my readers. I've used them all in the past and can vouch for any of them.
You're going to need a web server to host your landing pages and / or tracking (unless you use a cloud-based tracker like Voluum , AdsBridge or Thrive).
I suggest starting off with a VPS server. There are cheap $5 a month shared hosting out there, but you'll end up losing more money when they crash and your commissions don't get tracked.
Voluum : The most popular tracker out right now. Make sure your read my Voluum guide
Thrive : A new tracker from the creator of POFPro. The main feature of this tracker is that it's self-hosted.
AdsBridge : Cloud-hosted tracker and landing page builder. They have a 30-day free trial and a starter package that is a lower price than the other big trackers.
Most of the real affiliate marketing advice these days is on private forums. Inside you'll find case studies, follow-alongs, and advice that can speed up your learning process.
There are some free affiliate marketing forums out there but I don't recommend reading any.
The information on free forums is so bad that it would actually hurt your progress.
StackThatMoney : The playground of super affiliates. Features detailed guides and case studies. This is a steal at $99 / month.
AFFPlaybook : The private forum of David Ford. The highlight of the forum is their extensive list of custom tools. $63 a month.
If you want to make it on mobile/native, you HAVE to see what other affiliates are doing. I always affiliate marketing brazil say that affiliates should imitate THEN innovate - there's no point starting from zero.
It makes my media buying business harder because it creates competition, but I wanna show you guys how super affiliates?really do things.
Get Adplexity?mobile or Adplexity native. They also have an adult spy tool that does a better job than any other tool I've seen.
You'll also need a VPN if you want to see offers in other GEOs (they will redirect if you don't have your VPN on). Buffered is a great VPN that I recommend.
Don't know how to build landing pages or design banners? Then you need to hire a virtual assistant.
There's not really an official book out there on how to learn affiliate marketing. But to help you out, I've put together a list of 10 books I believe every affiliate marketer should read.
There are over 200 posts on my blog and I know not everyone has time to read them all.
I've organized my best articles into different sections for you to study. Books are not necessarily the best way to learn affiliate marketing, but they can help you with your mindset, productivity, goal setting, analysis and business skills
The Rise of Ngo - The 8-part biography on how I started in affiliate marketing.
